Stillness and Space

We generally talk about the Path using the terms Light and Sound. This is an obvious way of referring to it, as these are the Energies that the Initiate meets when they Meditate.

These Energies are also mentioned in nearly every form of spiritual literature, the World over. For many people the revelation of the Light of God would be considered as the Ultimate Spiritual experience and would be synonymous with Enlightenment.

However, we know that the Light and Sound are our Teachers and our Guides. They demonstrate an amazing Intelligence that has the Potential to take us to a State of Liberation. Paradoxically this lies beyond the aforementioned Energies. In other words we need to transcend the Light and Sound to become Enlightened.

As we Meditate more and more (especially after Second Initiation) we begin to realize the need to let go of the activity and embrace Stillness. When a person is first Initiated they are amazed by the Beauty of the intricate forms that they discover in the Spiritual Light. Similarly, they are enthralled by the melodious symphonies within the Sound Current.

It is not uncommon for initiates to judge their Meditations by these experiences and constantly seek more variety and greater intensity. This of course is the way we judge our earthly lives; we tend to catalogue our achievements in this way.

However, when it comes to the Spiritual Realms we begin to comprehend that we need a different approach. Through our Meditations we slowly realize that as our Goal lies beyond the Light and Sound, we need to let go of our attachments for these Energies.

In doing so we discover that we become aware of the Stillness and the Space in which the Light and Sound manifest. If we do this then we are merging more with the Source and not getting caught up in the effects. It is similar to being in a magnificent building. We can spend ages studying the incredible architecture or by closing our eyes and sitting quietly we can absorb the entire atmosphere.

Describing Stillness and Space is almost impossible. The best we can do is perhaps speak of the effect it has on us. We sense an immense Freedom, we bathe in a glorious Tranquility and we can feel a closeness to the Limitlessness of God.

What we are doing is turning inwards to the part of us that is Conscious and Aware. We are dissolving duality in favour of Unity. We are opting for Simplicity over complexity. This is not Enlightenment, but a step in the right direction.

If you are Meditating on something it is not Enlightenment.
Therefore transcend all Light and all Sound, beyond all form and all vibration; seek instead the Stillness and the Space and just let go!
